Chapter 2: The Migration Odyssey: Victories and Lessons Along the Way

Hoofdstuk 2: De Migratie Odyssee: Overwinningen en Lessen onderweg

Welcome back, online adventurers! It's Nick again, and I'm here to take you on the next part of our epic journey through the world of e-commerce migrations. Let's pick up where we left off and delve into the uncertainties and challenges we encountered along the way.

Between 2010 and 2015, we worked closely with webshops that had started on platforms like Mijnwebwinkel. It was the era of pioneering, where every step forward seemed like a leap into the unknown. But we grew together, discovered new possibilities, and stood at the forefront of e-commerce innovation.

By then, we were no longer the only providers, and the market was flooded with young 'computer heroes' presenting themselves as web designers.

The number of customers coming back to us in desperation after migrating from Mijnwebwinkel to Wordpress was unbelievable. At that moment, we realized that if we wanted to make this our core business, we needed to have certain things really well organized.

As the need for more flexibility and scalability grew, we shifted our course to platforms like Lightspeed. Carefully, we tasted the new and more extensive options. But with new opportunities came new challenges. It was a time of uncertainty, where migrations often synonymous with stress and disappointment.

It was as if the market was flooded with charlatans and unreliable parties offering migrations left and right. Webshop owners were promised mountains of gold, but many ended up with shattered dreams and lost customers.

The loss of customers and Google rankings was a harsh lesson for many. Migrating was more than just moving data; it was a leap into the unknown, with the risk of loss always lurking. But we stood by our customers, learned from every failure and disappointment, and grew stronger.

When Shopify entered the Dutch market in 2019, it brought new hope and new opportunities. But at the same time, it also brought new concerns. The fear of the unknown, doubts about the stability and reliability of the platform - these were all obstacles that needed to be overcome.

But here we are, still standing, stronger than ever before. We've learned that migrating will never be easy, but with every step we take, we become better, smarter, and more resilient. And we are determined to use that knowledge and experience to help you on your own migration odyssey.
