Chapter 1. The Start of the E-commerce Revolution

Hoofdstuk 1. De start van de ecommerce revolutie

Hi there! Nice to Sync you!

Most of you already know me, and for the new Syncer® fans, hello there! I'm Nick, your trusted guide through the world of e-commerce migrations. We all know how exciting a migration can be. But don't worry, because at this crucial step, the next big step in the growth of your webshop, I'm here for you!

Jump in, because first, I'll take you on an exciting journey through the history of Syncer and our adventures in the world of webshop migrations.

In a time when online stores flourished after the 2008 economic crisis, we were on the frontline, ready to help entrepreneurs realize their dreams. Instead of following the path of many others who focused on full-service agencies, we decided to specialize in a niche. (You can hardly believe it, but designing and developing webshops were still a niche market back then.)

In the early days, between 2010 and 2015, we primarily worked with platforms like Mijnwebwinkel and Wordpress, where we grew and flourished alongside webshops. Our clients were mostly creative individuals selling homemade goods or enthusiastic entrepreneurs who thought they had found a gap in the market.

In the first few years, we helped over a thousand aspiring entrepreneurs shape their identity. We designed their logos, brand identities, and then set up complete webshops. We pushed boundaries, tackling what seemed impossible. And we succeeded. From 2011 onward, we became a familiar face in the Dutch e-commerce world, both among partner countries and among e-commerce entrepreneurs who persevered over the years.

But like any exciting or successful story, this one also had its less glorious times. We faced challenges and changes. Ambitions, both ours and those of our clients, grew faster than the platforms could handle. We encountered limitations. We were pulled in different directions, but due to our loyal approach to our partners, it took some time before we transitioned to new systems. In 2015, we started broadening our horizons and grew alongside the most dedicated e-commerce entrepreneurs and webshop owners open to new possibilities, transitioning to SEOshop, later Lightspeed. This opened new doors but also brought new challenges. It was a time of experimentation, learning, and growth, both for us and our clients.

The first challenging migrations became a reality.

In 2019, Shopify entered the Dutch market, and everything changed. The features, the possibilities, the excitement - it was contagious. But amid the excitement, there were also uncertainties. Would Shopify really be as good as everyone said? Would our clients dare to make the switch?

That's just the beginning of our story. Stay with us as we explore the next chapters of Syncer's journey and discover how we can help you take your e-commerce adventure to new heights.
